Annelies Vrieswijk

Annelies Vrieswijk (1983) strongly believes that the sound of a saxophone is an invaluable addition to classical music. Thanks to her good sense of style, her communicative way of playing and her flowing, warm sound, Annelies is capable of integrating the saxophone into every musical period.

Annelies studied the saxophone at the Prince Claus Conservatory with Peter Stam, at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm with Christer Johnsson and at the Conservatory of Amsterdam with Arno Bornkamp. She finished both her Bachelor and Master degrees cum laude.

Apart from playing in the Rodion Trio, Annelies is a fixed member of the Syrène Saxophone Quartet. Furthermore she plays on a regular basis in many Dutch orchestras en ensembles, such as the Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra, The Hague Orchestra, South Netherlands Philharmonic and Asko|Schönberg.

When Annelies is not playing saxophone, she can be found outside with her two dogs, teaching them the most amazing tricks…
